Our aim in this poster campaign is to increase specifically the number of female applicants for our Electrical Apprenticeship across the country and both male and female applicants in the urban centres of Dublin and Cork. Some of the main advantages of an apprenticeship with ESB Networks is that the apprentice gets paid while learning their trade as an Electrician and will also be qualified as a Network Technician when they complete their 4 years. 1st Year rate is €10,000 approx. 2nd Year €15,000 approx. 3rd Year €22,000 approx. 4th Year €26,000 approx. A Qualified Electrician/Network Technician with ESB Networks salary starts at around €35,000. The long term employment prospects are excellent within ESB Networks also. Each year from February to May Leaving Certificate students can apply for a scholarship if they intend on studying science, engineering or technology at third level that year.
We are particularly interested in students applying to study STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related subjects rather then the more practical sciences (Medicine, Nursing, Veterinary, Physiotherapy etc). All applications are reviewed in August each year and the winners of scholarships are notified in September. Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) has announced its President’s Scholarship scheme is to run for a second year. The scheme encourages and rewards inspiring people who show a capacity to shape a better society. Five exceptional people are awarded scholarships with a total value of up to €12,000. Scholarship applicants must have listed one of WIT’s 70 CAO courses as one of their choices on their CAO application before applying. If they haven’t yet listed choices, they can do so ahead of the scholarship deadline while the CAO change of mind facility is open between 5 February and 1 March. The closing date for President’s Scholarship applications is Friday, 7 April at 5.15pm. |
