1. Online Route Students can study their Medicine degree online for the first 2.5 preclinical years and the final clinical years in UK NHS Teaching Hospitals. More specifically:
Students can study for a Medicine Degree while doing a Science related BSc degree in their home country (be it in the UK, the EU, or a non-EU country). They are required to attend online classes for a 2-month summer period per annum for up to the first 3 preclinical years while studying at home for their BSc degree and the final clinical years of the course will take place at UK NHS Teaching Hospitals. More particularly:
During the preclinical years, students will benefit from both live-streamed and recorded lectures offered by NVU’s British and Georgian professors. A question bank will help them to revise the theoretical sections of each subject taught in order to fully comprehend their lectures. Finally, a more personalised approach is offered when each lecturer spends time on a Q&A session. During the clinical years, clinical rotations will be conducted in UK NHS Teaching Hospitals. Students will have exposure across a number of medical areas (see below) and consultants will finally assess them using OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) method.
Medicine and Veterinary are among the biggest year-on-year percentage increases in applications for honours degree courses (veterinary +16%). At least the same number that will go for vet studies to UCD, will go to Poland (approx. 80).
The Medical Poland Admission Office, helping Irish students with their choices abroad for the last 6 years, has confirmed that this year the application period for medicine and veterinary has been extended to 15th and 17th September 2020 respectively due to the Leaving Cert release date changing.
