New Programme LM097 BSc. (Ed) in Mathematics and Computer ScienceThis exciting new degree programme with specialism in the teaching of Mathematics and Computer Science, is designed to produce graduates with the skills necessary to teach mathematics to Junior and Senior Cycle students in the Irish education system and also to teach the new Senior Cycle Computer Science Programme and Junior Cycle short course in coding. The programme is in the process of seeking recognition from the teaching council but since our other four year teacher education programmes, that share a significant amount of content, are already approved, we do not envisage any problems with this accreditation application.
Entry Requirements Applicants are required to hold at the time of enrolment the established Leaving Certificate (or an approved equivalent) with a minimum of six subjects which must include: Two H5 (Higher Level) grades and four O6 (Ordinary Level) grades or four H7 (Higher Level) grades. Subjects must include Mathematics, Irish or another language, and English. Applicants must hold a H4 grade in Mathematics. Students admitted to the programme are required to undergo a Garda Vetting process. Please note that this programme is not in the printed CAO Handbook or in the printed Undergraduate Prospectus. It is included in the course listing on the CAO website (www.cao.ie) and in the online prospectus (www.ul.ie/courses). Comments are closed.
