The Alert List below highlights the main changes for students seeking entry in September 2018, and is followed by other information I hope will be of use to you, including: Student Recruitment Activities, our Feasibility Study in Admissions and our Open Day.
Alert List for 2018 entry Course name change Students applying to enter the Trinity Bachelor in Business Studies course (TR080) will in 2018 apply to ‘Global Business’. This name change better reflects the substance of the course but does not signify a change in degree awarded or course content. Courses such as B.E.S.S. (TR081), Business Studies and a Language (TR085, TR086, TR087, TR089, TR089), Computer Science and Business (TR082) or Business and Law (TR017) are not affected. New entry routes to Science Courses Students seeking entry to Trinity’s Science Courses in 2018, will now have four separate entry routes to choose from, signifying four integrated study paths: Biological & Biomedical Sciences (TR060); Chemical Sciences (TR061); Geography & Geosciences (TR062); Physical Sciences (TR063). These streams now incorporate the ‘Common Entry Science’ Course (TR071), as well as a number of former direct entry courses. Information regarding these changes is available at the following link: https://www.tcd.ie/Science/streams/ Change to Admission Requirements for entry in 2019 For students applying to enter the Pharmacy course (TR072) in Trinity College in 2019 the entry requirements will be as follows: 1. O4/H6 in mathematics (no change) 2. H4 in Chemistry OR Physics/Chemistry (previously H5 in Chemistry) and H4 in one of physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, geology, geography, applied mathematics, agricultural science. Physics/Chemistry may not be presented with physics or chemistry to satisfy requirements. Feasibility Study in Admissions for Leaving Certificate Students For the fifth year Trinity is pioneering a feasibility study in admissions to see if there is a better and fairer way to identify and admit Leaving Certificate applicants who are enthusiastic and passionate about learning, motivated and suitable for their chosen courses. The admissions route will be used to fill 10 places in History (TR003), 10 places in Law (TR004) and 5 places in Ancient and Medieval History and Culture (TR028). Open Day 2017 The Trinity Open Day will take place on Saturday 9th December 2017. We would be delighted to welcome you and your students and campus will be open from 9.00AM to 3.30PM for everyone interested in attending. A poster for your noticeboard is being sent to schools in addition to the prospectus and the event guide will be posted on the Trinity website https://www.tcd.ie/study/visiting/in late November. Course Specific Open Days and Transition Year Programmes Various Schools and Departments at Trinity offer their own outreach events, including course specific open days and transition year programmes. Further information can be found by contacting the departments directly for more information. Dual BA program between Trinity College Dublin and Columbia University In 2018, subject to final approval, a new Dual BA programme between Trinity College Dublin and Columbia University will be launched. More information on the new programme will be available from 10th of November at gs.columbia.edu/tcd and a dedicated stand and presentations for the new programme will be available on Open Day.
