Teagasc College of Amenity Horticulture is hosting an open day for prospective applicants on 13 October from 12 noon to 3pm at the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin, Dublin 9. The event will give attendees the opportunity to hear first-hand about courses offered at the college.Topics to be discussed on the day include: application process; course content and elective subjects; progression; student maintenance grants; and work experience arrangements.

The word ‘varied’ comes to mind when you think about careers in Horticulture but one thing that ties all the careers in Horticulture together, is a passion and love of working in the outdoor space with plants. These may form part of beautiful and creative outdoor spaces, or indeed the very vital area that is food production. Graduates of the Teagasc College of Amenity Horticulture are to be found in both these areas and, more specifically, in the landscaping, nursery stock, turf care and food production areas.
The next College open day is scheduled for March 10th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm and attendees will get a chance to view our training facilities in the Teagasc College in Botanics and in Ashtown Applications for both Level 5 and Level 6 fulltime courses in Horticulture for 2022-2023 can be found on the Teagasc website at the following link. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the courses available and get the chance to meet teaching staff, educational experts, current students and potential employers of course graduates. Attendees will also be given a guided tour of the facilities.

Horticulture Open Day in Teagasc’s Kildalton College to include WIT Horticulture offering
Kildalton College offers level 5 and 6 Horticulture courses and in conjunction with Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), also offers a 3-year Horticulture degree qualification (L7). Located at the end of a tree-lined avenue, the well-equipped picturesque college is just outside Piltown, Co. Kilkenny, and only 20 minutes from Waterford city. Prospective students are invited to visit Kildalton College from 10am to 1pm on Friday, 1 March 2019. Teagasc Kildalton College, Piltown, Co. Kilkenny will hold its annual Careers Day on Friday, 7th of October with tours beginning at 10am & 11am. The college will open its doors to potential new students, their parents and guidance councillors. Members of staff will be present to show students around the farm, equine unit, horticulture unit and gardens. This is an ideal opportunity to get a taste of student life at Kildalton and explore the broad range of courses available at the College, Agriculture, Horticulture & Equine. Schools must book in advance if coming for the Open Day.
