Since 2010 the number of completed DARE and HEAR applications has risen from 6,065 in 2010 to 11,641. With this there has been a parallel increase in the volume of post arrives in CAO in the final week before the deadline. All of these documents must be scanned, checked and divided up for screening. All of this putting increasing pressure CAO, IUA and screeners. In order to ensure the smooth operation of the schemes, a change in submission deadline was discussed with multiple stakeholders. It was subsequently agreed to change the closing Date for DARE/HEAR Supporting Documents from April 1 to a new date of March 15. The rationale behind choosing March 15 is to help avoid the problems caused by the Easter Holidays (schools and professionals are frequently unavailable during the break), and to avoid having a deadline coincide with the St Patrick’s Day national holiday. The other deadline dates of February 1 (for submission of application to the CAO) and March 1 (Complete online application form) remain unchanged. |
