extiles – Heritage, Craft, Revival and Renewal (L5 Design)This innovative new course will offer learners the opportunity to foster and develop artistic skills, techniques, and knowledge, based on the traditional crafts of weaving, embroidery, lace making and felting. Drawing on the rich textile heritage of the Liberties, it will enable students to rediscover and recover traditional practices. It will focus on the importance of sustainability, working with natural fibres and merging heritage with newer models. Offering a both a vocational pathway and progression routes to advanced studies, this course will enable students to appreciate and develop textile crafts, based on ethical and sustainable principles and processes relevant to the 21st Century.
Progression Routes:Students wishing to continue their education and training in the Art and Design area can progress through the QQI Higher Education Access route into the following courses, on successful completion of their award, in Liberties College:

Pre-Apprentice in Software Development (Level 5)Awarding Body: QQI
Award Title and Code: Software Development 5M0529 (pre-apprenticeship)
Duration; 1 Year.
The pre-apprenticeship in software development program will equip students with a grounding in software development and the associated technologies, as well as the necessary skills and learning to progress onto the FIT apprentice in Software Development (All pre-apprentice software modules taken map on those of the software development apprenticeship, progression is built into the learning on this course).

Plunket College F.E is currently OPEN for applications for courses starting Sept 2020–21 and will remain so right up until the new academic year starts. Students can apply online at www.plunketcollge.ie Due to COVID 19 restrictions there will be no face to face interviews.
Dunboyne College is currently open for applications and will remain so right up until the new academic year starts. Given the government guidelines and restrictions around Covid-19, we will not be holding interviews for applicants this year.
