The Bachelor of Applied Science in Nutrition, Food and Business Management (CAO Code: AS051) is a four year, Level 8 Honours Degree which includes a 20 week placement in Year 3. Students undertake both theoretical and practical elements of Food, Food Science and Nutrition as well as studying Business modules each year.
Careers after graduation:
The Irish food industry needs talented young graduates to help create innovative and nutritious food products that will enhance consumers’ lives. Currently there are excellent employment opportunities in the food industry with a shortage of appropriately qualified graduates. The food industry requires graduates with an understanding of nutrition, culinary skills and market trends. The salaries for graduate Food Technician/NPD roles range between €23,000 to €40,000 and the salary for graduates progressing to Food Product Development Manager roles in Ireland range between €45,000 to €90,000, not including car, bonuses, pension and health insurance. As with all careers, top salaries are dependent on excelling in your studies, gaining valuable experience and individual performance.

Study Home Economics at St. Angela’s College – New for 2019!St. Angela’s College, Sligo are offering a new BA in Home Economics commencing September 2019 (CAO Code: AS054).
This four year, Level 8 Honours Degree is aimed at students with a passion for Home Economics and who are interested in developing a diverse range of knowledge and practical skills underpinned by the subjects three core disciplines: Food Studies; Textiles Fashion and Design; Family Resource Management. Students undertake a 20 week placement in Year 3 of the programme which will allow them to gain further valuable experience in their field. Graduates will find rewarding careers in both community setting such as Home Management Advisers and Early Years Inspectors, Child and Family Agency Section
Graduates may also find employment in industry such as Food Product Development, Food Advisers or Product (equipment) Testers.
