LM091 Bachelor of Education in Languages – Level 8 Honours Bachelor Degree
The aim of the programme is to educate teachers and equip them with the skills and aptitudes for a successful career as a languages teacher. Graduates from the programme will be qualified to teach their chosen languages at both Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate level. If you are considering a career in teaching and have a strong interest in languages, this may be the course for you. This four-year programme attracts students who have excellent communication skills, and are strongly motivated and passionate about languages teaching.

The scholarships are open to all current, full time, UL students or those who are applying to come to UL for the first time either through CAO or transferring at undergraduate or postgraduate level. Applicants must be a member of a national governing body of sport recognised by the Irish Sports Council, in the sport in which they are applying for a scholarship.
Scholarships will be offered at 3 levels:
GoldSupport towards a training grant, accommodation, registration, sports science support, coaching and gym membership. Valued at more than €10,000 per year.
SilverSupport towards a training grant, accommodation, registration, sports science support, coaching and gym membership. Valued at more than €5,000 per year.
BronzeSupport towards a training grant, sports science support, coaching and gym membership. Valued at more than €1,200.

New Programme LM097 BSc. (Ed) in Mathematics and Computer ScienceThis exciting new degree programme with specialism in the teaching of Mathematics and Computer Science, is designed to produce graduates with the skills necessary to teach mathematics to Junior and Senior Cycle students in the Irish education system and also to teach the new Senior Cycle Computer Science Programme and Junior Cycle short course in coding. The programme is in the process of seeking recognition from the teaching council but since our other four year teacher education programmes, that share a significant amount of content, are already approved, we do not envisage any problems with this accreditation application.
Applicants are required to hold at the time of enrolment the established Leaving Certificate (or an approved equivalent) with a minimum of six subjects which must include:
Two H5 (Higher Level) grades and four O6 (Ordinary Level) grades or four H7 (Higher Level) grades.
Subjects must include Mathematics, Irish or another language, and English.
Applicants must hold a H4 grade in Mathematics.
Students admitted to the programme are required to undergo a Garda Vetting process.
