INCHICORE COLLEGE NEW Furniture Design and Making 5M2012This one year QQI Level 5 course beginning in September 2017, is centred around the practical nature of woodworking and students will learn techniques in both hand skills and machinery use. The course will have a strong emphasis on process and design which will enable students to generate design ideas and to produce finished pieces of furniture.
Classes in metal craft and finishing techniques will give students opportunities to develop a unique range of skills. Students will complete work experience as an integral part of the course. The students will work with a realistic design brief to create functioning furniture for public use. Guidance will be provided to students throughout the course to assist them to achieve their full potential. This event is being staged at Home Farm Football Club in Dublin, to allow learners seeking scholarships in 2017 or 2018 to find out more about scholarships in the USA. Learners and their parents will also have the opportunity to meet the Pass4Soccer team and play in an assessment game. On the day players will be given an indication of their potential scholarship levels as well as the opportunity to ask any questions they or their parents have. We strongly encourage parents to come along where possible.

Dublin Aerospace ApprenticeshipApplications are open for our MAMF (Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitter) Apprenticeship.The work of the Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitter (MAMF) involves plant and machinery installation, maintenance and repair, replacement of broken or worn parts, adjustment and servicing. The work also involves fabrication of replacement parts using machine tools i.e. lathes, milling machines, grinders etc.
In Dublin Aerospace, it includes activities such as dismantling, overhauling and assembly of Landing Gear, Auxiliary Power Units (APU) and their components. The Closing date is the 30th of May. UCD Innovation Academy are hosting the first UCD Innovation Summer Camp on campus at University College Dublin in the O' Brien Centre for Science from 26th-30th June 2017.
This week-long camp is open to current senior cycle secondary school students and to those who are entering senior cycle. It will have a strong emphasis on learning by doing. Participants will learn about and experience creative problem solving approaches such as Design Thinking; actively engage in a series of individual and group learning challenges and hackathons and use new technology including Virtual Reality and 3D Printing to support the learning process.
