Exceptional young people urged to apply for new €12k WIT scholarship
Community groups, teachers, family members asked to encourage inspiring young people they know to apply for the Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) President’s scholarship. The new programme will see five exceptional young students being awarded scholarships with a total value of up to €12,000. Each President’s Scholar will receive a bursary of €2,000 per year of study along with €500 per semester on each student’s WITCard (college smart card). click here for more We are calling for applicants for our 2016 “Women in Technology” scholarship program Since first establishing the scholarship programme Intel in Ireland has supported more than 60 scholarships and invested almost 1 million euro in supporting bright gifted female students wishing to pursue a degree course in Science, Maths, Technology or Engineering disciplines. Through this scholarship program, Intel hopes to increase awareness and encourage a new generation of high-achieving women to take up the challenge of a career in technology.
Intel’s “Women in Technology” scholarship awards for 2016 are structured as follows: · Scholarships are open to female school leavers entering specified undergraduate honors degree courses in science, technology and engineering (full selection criteria is included below) and up to €3000 for each student per annum. · Scholars will complete intern placements or summer internships at an Intel campus · The scholarship program is supported by Intel in Leixlip, Shannon and Cork and successful scholars are linked to an Intel campus based on their course selection and geographical location. · To assist with career progression and further education, each scholar will be assigned an Intel mentor who can assist and provide advice on managing their academic career The deadline for the current round of scholarships October 1st 2016. The next Trainee Jockey Course administered by KWETB at RACE in Kildare will be open soon for applications and is due to start 29th August 2016. We are also bringing to Ireland a well-known vascular surgeon, professor Arkadiusz Jawien who will talk on innovation in vascular surgery and a complex operation performed by his team recently in Poland. Prof. Jawien is also a lecturer and the Head of English Division at Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz and he will be conducting interviews for 6-year Medicine program in Poland on 19th April in Dublin. Accounting Technicians Ireland’s new apprenticeship programme to represent one of the most significant changes to Irish education system in decades. The programme provides an alternative entrance route to starting a career in the accountancy and finance profession. Successful participants of the programme will gain an internationally recognised qualification – the Diploma for Accounting Technicians (MIATI) from Accounting Technicians Ireland – which is a Level 5 qualification (QCF) and equivalent to a Foundation Degree programme. In the Republic of Ireland, ATI has already agreed to partner with Education Training Boards in Monaghan-Cavan, Cork, City of Dublin, Dublin/Dun Laoghaire, and Kildare-Wicklow to deliver the apprenticeship.
Accounting Technicians Ireland’s (ATI) new apprenticeship programme is expected create 70 positions for school leavers across 60 companies when it is launched in the Republic of Ireland this year. The apprenticeship programme, which sees students employed for two years while also attending classes in ATI partner colleges, was successfully launched in Northern Ireland last year. Senior Executives from Canadian based cyber security company, eSentire, whose European Headquarters is based in Ballincollig, Co.Cork, announced details of a Perpetual Scholarship to be awarded by them to a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in IT Management student who is specifically pursuing a security forensics course. The number of CAO applicants who have listed nursing courses as their first choice in the initial period up to February 1st is up 11 per cent on the equivalent 2015 figure.
Last year the UK announced that from the 2017 academic year onwards, all such NHS funding will cease and nursing and other para-medical students will have to source student loans to fund their nursing studies. This will close off this option for many Irish PLC pre-nursing graduates, and put further pressure on Irish nursing schools to admit far more than the handful of students from the PLC sector than they currently do. more.... |
