Ideal for those TY, 5th & 6th year with an interest in potentially starting a business or working in the exciting world of innovation!
Find out more. IADT Dun Laoghaire will hold a summer camp for secondary school girls from 3rd – 5th year for 3 days from June 17th to June 19th 2019. The summer campwill focus on girls only participation. It will be completely hands-on with students developing games, programming robots and coming up with solutions to current problems.
Each student will receive a goodie bag with t-shirt and freebies. Lunch will also be provided each day. The event is aimed at addressing the gender imbalance that exists in STEM education and STEM careers. We will do this by reaching out to young women, to show them that there are plenty of female role models in STEM careers. We aim to show young women that technology can be creative and inspiring, and their creative talent is necessary in the technological world. These universities are popular because are more practical employment-focused institutions than the more academic research universities, and students appreciate a more practical, hands-on style of learning, including one or two internships. They offer degrees in areas such as:
Dutch universities don’t select for entry, based on Leaving Cert points. In the Netherlands, you have a right to an education if you have the minimum entry requirements (EITHER 6 passes at LC, inc 2 x H4 OR a relevant QQI Level 5). Some 90% of programmes don’t even have a selection procedure: you make the minimum entry requirements, and you are in. Even for those with a selection procedure, grades are rarely a selection criteria. There is even an entry route for students, over 21, who don’t have formal entry requirements. Tuition Fees which, at EUR2083, are already very low, can be recouped by way of an interest-free loan from the Dutch government. 15 years to repay, after you graduate. Not only can students take their SUSI Grant with them but there is further financial support from the Dutch government, though support towards Living Expenses. Each scholarship is awarded for a three year period subject to application criteria and conditions.
