The programme embraces food sales and culinary practice, food innovation development and practical culinary modules that are focused on products found in food retail and delicatessen outlets. The programme also embraces food retail marketing and customer care modules that promote enterprise development leading to future business creations. The dynamic and competitive nature of the retail food industry requires management skills that combine professional, entrepreneurial and strategic approaches. Against this background, this programme builds on the strong links between retail culinary practice and food business and will provide students with the opportunity to work in the dynamic food and beverage related industries.What are my… Career opportunities?This programme recognises the complex nature of the retail culinary, general food, beverages and related industries. Ballyfermot College Art CoursesART in BCFE is diverse, creative and exciting. It can lead to work in the creative industries or can be the foundation for further study in art and design. BCFE offers three Higher National Diploma programmes and three Portfolio courses.
When our Animation students are included we have around 250 students in the area of Art and more that 20 dedicated art teachers. The college has a national and international reputation for animation and our graduates have received 5 Oscar nominations including an Oscar win for Richie Baneham for his work on Avatar. The Art department is a hub of creativity, hard-work, fun, ideas, design and art-making, both traditional and digital. It contains excellent resources: nine art studios, a darkroom and a state-of-the-art Mac Room. The new two year diploma course, which was developed in consultation with the local industry, will teach students the sort of skills behind the spectacular visual effects in movies like ‘STAR WARS’ and television series like ‘GAME OF THRONES’ using industry-standard software and hardware like Nuke, Maya, PhotoShop, Arnold and V-Ray. |
