The President’s Scholarship Programme 2019 encourages and rewards inspiring people who show a capacity to shape a better society. Five exceptional young students will be awarded scholarships with a total value of up to €12,000 each.
There will be one scholarship available in each of the Institute’s five discipline areas: Business, Engineering, Health Sciences, Humanities and Science & Computing. Each President’s Scholar will receive a bursary of €2,000 per year of study along with €500 per semester for use on campus. WIT helps students give college a ‘Try’ with three events announced for early 2019Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) has announced three ‘Try’ events for prospective students taking place in early 2019.
Having run a successful Try Business workshop in December and Try Nursing two-day event over the autumn mid-term break, WIT is to run three more Try events for January and February 2019. They are: Try Engineering Technology (23 January 2019), Try Sport (22 February 2019) and Try Music (28 February 2019). Waterford Institute of Technology’s annual CAO open evening takes place on Tuesday, 17 April from 5.30pm-7.30pm on the institute’s Cork Road Campus.
The open evening gives prospective students the chance to explore the campus and talk to their future lecturers to find out about specific course information. It is the final CAO open event of the year and an ideal chance for prospective students, friends and family members to become familiar with the campus and ask questions. In addition to general talks there will be a series of information sessions will take place about student fees, grants and the Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) application process. Bookings are also being taken on the WIT website for the popular Hour of Code. Other specialist talks include the Bachelor of Business (Hons) information event and engineering talks concentrating on 3D, quantity surveying and sustainable energy engineering. WIT has 70 CAO courses which include a selection of ‘common entry’ courses for September 2018. The closing date for late applications is 1 May at 5.15pm and the online change of mind facility is open between midday on 5 May and 5.15pm on 1 July. For the third year running five exceptional people will be awarded scholarships that have a total value of up to €12,000. Rather than a focus on high points the scholarship scheme encourages and rewards inspiring people who show a capacity to shape a better society. The closing date for President’s Scholarship applications is Thursday, 1 March 2018 at 5.15pm. To be in with a chance of winning one of five scholarships worth €3,000 a year each, scholarship applicants must have listed one of WIT’s 70 CAO courses as one of their choices on their CAO application before applying.
