Blackrock Further Education Institute (BFEI) is not part of the CAO points systems and offers students alternative pathways to degree courses or professional qualifications to those who want to go directly into employment. BFEI also offers second chance opportunities to individuals who do not have the Leaving Certificate and are looking for a new career, and a fresh start. The Institute is located just off the main street of Blackrock village and is served by the DART line and key bus routes.
Staff at BFEI are looking forward to welcoming visitors to their next Open Day on Wednesday 23 May from 2pm to 4pm. Open Days provide an excellent opportunity to learn more about the courses and qualifications. Students can make a more informed decision about a course/career choice by speaking to course teachers and students, sampled the atmosphere and seeing the state-of-the-art facilities which includes computer laboratories, design studios, beauty salons and the learning centre. For those with an interest in the Interior, Graphic and Web Design there will be an exhibition of student work on display during the Open Day. By viewing exhibits and talking to BFEI staff, prospective students will be able to get a better understanding of the courses on offer and the skills they can develop by taking a design course. The following new or modified courses are planned for September 2018:-
***The Accounting Technician Apprenticeship BFEI is one of six colleges nationwide selected to deliver the new National Accounting Technician Apprenticeship. Apprentices who completed this 2 year course gain a Diploma for Accounting Technicians and a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Accounting. This programme will suit school-leavers (18-22 years old) who prefer practical training to full-time academic study. Apprentices will work in an accounting firm four day a week and attend lectures one day a week. The programme offers school-leavers an alternative to full-time third-level study. They get paid approximately, €17,000 a year and tuition costs are fully funded. If you cannot visit on open day then it is highly recommended that you browse their website or request a brochure to read about the courses and in particular, the graduate profile which highlights their success and the benefits former students gained by attending BFEI.
