A Social Media Influencer is a user of social media who has established credibility in a specific industry. They have access to a large audience and can persuade others by virtue of their authenticity. On this course you will learn the fundamentals of influencer marketing through Instagram and Youtube platforms. The course will focus on content creation, attracting followers, building a base, sponsorship, creating short videos and developing a Youtube channel. Building Construction This one year Building Construction course is designed to provide learners with the opportunity to develop essential knowledge and practical skills to work in the rapidly growing construction and renewable energy industries. The course prepares the learners to further their studies at degree level or direct employment in a wide range of construction or renewable energy related job. Occupational Therapy Assistant The Occupational Therapy Assistant (Health Service Skills) course is designed to equip the learner with the opportunity of obtaining a Major QQI Level 5 Award in Health Service Skills 5M3782. This course aims to equip the learner with the necessary skills required to progress on to potential employment as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) or as a Health Care Assistant. This will give prospective students and their parents/guardians the opportunity to talk to staff and students about all our courses. We will also be running Interview Preparation Seminars on the night which will cover all the detail of our interview process. Our interviews will take place on Friday January 24th.
I am delighted to let you know that we will be running two new courses in September, Social Media Influencer and Building Construction. We have also got extra resources for pathway to apprenticeship courses in Engineering Technology related areas and Hairdressing and we are hoping to roll out the new Hairdressing apprenticeship in 2020. Interviews will be held on Friday January 25th. Apply early to ensure you get called for interview. Our next Information Evening on Thursday 29th November (Coolock Campus) will give Leaving Certificate students the opportunity to talk to staff and students about our courses and progression routes to Higher Education and employment. Anyone wanting to continue after the course is completed can move on to our Craft Production course starting in September once they are VTOS eligible.

QQI Award Youth Work (Level 5 – 5M4732)This is a one year QQI Level 5 course which examines the theory and practice of youth work. The wide range of modules offered enables students to gain a critical awareness of the way in which Youth Work operates. Learners are also enabled to improve their communication skills, self-awareness, critical reflection and interpersonal skills, all of which are central to working in youth work. This course also includes qualifications for the Outdoor Education Industry namely Lowland Leader Award and Rock Climbing
Students will engage in supervised work experience over the year which provides practical knowledge, skills and competence for the field of Youth Work. Career OpportunitiesYouth Work involves working with marginalised or disadvantaged young people in a caring, compassionate way. There are a wide range of career options in youth work including: Youth and community work, working with young offenders, the probation service, working with disadvantaged children, working with young people with physical or intellectual disabilities, drug/alcohol dependency, asylum seekers/refugees etc. Entry RequirementsFive passes in Leaving Certificate (one of which should be a 05/C3 in ordinary level English) or a merit in Leaving Certificate Applied. Mature applicants (21+) who may not have formal academic requirements but who have the ability to successfully participate on the course will be considered.
