IT Sligo, soon to be part of the Atlantic Technological University, has an exciting opportunity for leaving certificate students all over the country who are interested in engineering, but not necessarily interested in or able to attend a campus. Our innovative work-based degree in Mechatronic Systems Engineering, which is a combination of work and online learning, and which requires minimal attendance in Sligo, is being supported by employers all over the country with Traineeship positions and scholarships.
Our level 7 degree was launched in 2020 and we expect to have a level 8 degree available from September 2022. Employers, including both Irish companies and US multinationals, in the following counties have expressed a willingness to recruit students: Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Longford, Mayo, Galway, Clare, Tipperary, Limerick, Cork, Wexford, Cavan, Monaghan, Westmeath, Meath, Louth and Dublin. Mechatronic Engineering is a broad qualification spanning mechanical, electronic and computing and is in great demand from sophisticated manufacturers in Ireland, particularly in medical technologies and pharmaceuticals.
