We recently posted some information to all Post Primary Schools in Ireland regarding our Trainee Jockey Course for those interested in pursuing a career in the racing industry.
The Trainee Jockey course is a 42-week residential programme based here on campus in Kildare Town from Monday to Friday. Successful participants receive a QQI (formerly FETEC) Level 4 Major Award on the National Framework of Qualifications. Immediately upon graduation students are prepared for a full-time job as an exercise rider and the prospect of a career a jockey. For those students who demonstrate high levels of riding skills and commitment we provide assistance with their preparations to apply for their apprentice or conditional jockey licence. This course is funded by the Kildare & Wicklow Education & Training Board, Horse Racing Ireland and other industry stakeholders. Most Students on this course are aged between 16 and 18 years. We have two remaining Open Days for the trainee jockey course – Tuesday 1st May and Tuesday 8th May at 2pm. If any of the students in your school are interested in the trainee jockey course they can fill in an Expression of Interest Form (available on our website) and book in for an Open Day. For more information and for interest forms please visit our website - http://racingacademy.ie/cms/trainee-jockey/. If you have any queries please give Laura or myself a call on 045-522468.
