Students from sixth year, FE and fifth year can experience first hand college life in the Teagasc College in the National Botanic Gardens on Saturday, 22 February 2020.
You will be exposed to what is involved in the examination and identification of plant material and how that is used in an amenity setting of the National Botanic Gardens. You will also get to see demonstrations of certain machinery used in horticulture as well as finding out about what course types and careers would be on offer once you’ve completed a certificate, advanced certificate or degree in Horticulture in Teagasc College in the National Botanic Gardens. Indicative schedule11.00 – 11.15am: Introduction to Teagasc College life and the National Botanic Gardens. 11.15am – 12.00pm: Tour of Great Palm house and curvilinear range incorporating plant ID. 12.00pm – 12.45pm: Plant Identification and Potting shed exercise and machine demonstrations. 12.45om – 1.30pm: Presentation on courses in College. 1.30pm – 2.00pm: Tea /coffee and sandwiches.
